On December 18th, 2007 Fitch Ratings defined an ‘A-’ rating for Economic and Investment Bank and a stable perspective. The individual rating reflects the overall state and advancement of the bank, as well as the full support it will receive when necessary by its major shareholder, the Belgian KBC Bank HB (AA-).

On 22 November, KBC received the approval of the National Bank of Bulgaria to acquire a majority stake in Economic and Investment Bank (EIBANK). On 15 November 2007, KBC had already received the approval of the Bulgarian Competition Authority.

The campaign, aiming to raise consumer awareness of dangerous products, particularly children' toys, in the busy pre-Christmas period, will focus primarily on informing consumers on the dangers of some widespread products, but will include also a pact with producers to provide more information on their products.

Dr. Kiril Velichkov, Ms Tzvetelina Borislavova and Mr. Alan Duks – Director General of the Institute of European Affairs. Mr. Dukes will read a lecture in Sofia during the information campaign in February which EIBANK and KBC had planned together.

The European structural funds can create a good basis for the development of the middle class in Bulgaria. This is what Ms. Tzvetelina Borislavova – chairperson of the SB of CIBANK, said at the conference that was closed yesterday in Brussels and which focused on the innovations and entrepreneurship.
